hosted a 2022 Walk the Runway for a Cause Fashion Show.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we are here to raise awareness of
the social and personal impact of domestic violence along with the support available to those affected.
Thank you Macy's for donating close to 2,000 prom gowns & dresses!
We highlighted them with teens modeling and
walking the runway to step out and stop the abuse.
DID YOU KNOW?
- 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner.
- On a typical day, domestic violence hotlines receive approximately 21,000 calls, approximately 15 calls every minute
- Intimate partner violence accounts for 15% of all violent crime.
- Abusers’ access to firearms increases the risk of intimate partner femicide at least five-fold. When firearms have been used in the most severe abuse incident, the risk increases 41-fold.
- 72% of all murder-suicides involved an intimate partner; 94% of the victims of these crimes are female.
- Domestic violence is prevalent in every community and affects all people regardless of age, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality.
- Physical violence is often accompanied by emotionally abusive and controlling behavior as part of a much larger, systematic pattern of dominance and control.
- Domestic violence can result in physical injury, psychological trauma, and even death. The devastating consequences of domestic violence can cross generations and last a lifetime.
